two hours
head-to-toe MFR + Yin
Get to know your body better, and feel better in it.
Stress and old compensatory patterns can leave us feeling bound up, physically drained, and even in pain. Self-myofascial release (SMFR) helps mobilize and hydrate tissue while easing tension, releasing trigger points, and helping unwind unhealthy patterns.
Join Lara for two hours of head-to-toe MFR and Yin yoga to empower your body's own self-healing nature. Lara will teach about fascia — the connective tissue of the body — and explain how it can limit our range of motion as well as affect our physical well-being. Using SMFR balls and blocks, she'll illustrate the underlying importance of myofascial release in your self-care routine.
We'll begin with a few softening Yin yoga poses — an initiation into the world of connective tissue, and a reset for the central nervous system.
Two hours, head to toe.
- Several MFR techniques using fascial release balls
- Basic anatomy
- Healthy movement patterns
- Functional mobility
- Common dysfunctions
- The importance of MFR in a self-care routine

Viveka Yoga School co-founder · E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500 Yoga Alliance certified · Ashtanga Variations, Slow Flow, Restorative, Yin & Myofascial Release
Lara was introduced to yoga in 2002 by a newly certified friend who needed practice students. Over the next several years she ventured in and out of the practice and through different styles until she found her home in the Vinyasa and Ashtanga traditions. In 2011 she completed her 200-hour training with Be Luminous, with a primary focus in Power Vinyasa, Vinyasa, and Slow Flow.
She has spent years studying with her teacher Tiffany Cruickshank and Yoga Medicine — a school that works as an adjunct to eastern and western medicine with a yogic component. In August 2018 she completed her 500-hour advanced studies, adding Yin, restorative, myofascial release, therapeutics, internal medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, orthopedics, and cadaver dissection to her training. Lara is also registered as a Therapeutic Specialist and has continued into her 1,000-hour studies through Yoga Medicine.
She is co-founder of Yogalab Northwest, a community-inspired organization that hosts international yoga teachers in the Seattle area — including Sri Dharma Mittra, Kino MacGregor, Jason Crandell, Tiffany Cruickshank, Chris Chavez, Amy Ippoliti, and Carmen Aguilar. Her own advanced training includes 75 hours with Jason Crandell, 50 hours with Amy Ippoliti, 25 hours with Sri Dharma Mittra, 40 hours with Kino MacGregor, and 25 hours assisting with Lisa Black.
As co-founder of Viveka Yoga RYS with Dikla Kafka, Lara has mentored 47 aspiring teachers across four 200-hour teacher training programs and graduated four more from a 300-hour advanced training.
